This year, our school will be hosting its first MUN conference, KMUN I, which will take place on February 7-8, 2026.

The Secretariats for this conference are 11th graders, Secretary-General Gavin Lo, and Deputy Secretary-Generals Daniel Chen, Jonathan Chen, Alexandra Chuang, and Charles Chung. Along with many other student officers and delegates attending from our school and other international schools.

There will be six different committees filled with middle and high school students debating and creating the best resolutions.

“By embracing the diversity within this conference, we strengthen our ability to work collectively toward solutions that reflect inclusivity, empathy, and global understanding," said Secretary-General Gavin Lo (Grade 11) “I look forward to the thoughtful diplomacy and leadership over the coming days.”

Model United Nations (MUN) is an educational simulation where students take on the roles of country delegates to debate global issues and current ongoing international issues, such as climate change, human rights, and international security. Students also attend MUN as student officers (Student Chairs), who control the committee room and guide the delegates to debate respectfully. Through research, speeches, negotiations, and resolution writing, MUN helps students develop public speaking, critical thinking, and diplomacy skills.

“MUN isn’t about perfection or competition; it’s about learning, sharing perspectives, and finding confidence in expressing your ideas,” said Deputy Secretary-General Daniel Chen (Grade 11).

During the conference many first-time and experienced delegates and officers, go through various procedures and debates in an effort find feasible solutions for pressing issues.

“This year's theme is 'Unity in Diversity', unity does not mean being the same or agreeing on everything. But instead, it means coming together because of our differences, using our diverse experiences, cultures, and viewpoints to create stronger, more creative, and more inclusive solutions,” said Deputy-Secretary General Alexandra Chuang (Grade 11). By hosting this conference, our school is promoting global awareness and empowering students to engage with international issues. KMUN I is not just an academic event; it is an opportunity for students to grow as informed, confident, and responsible global citizens, all while bringing the spirit of debating and diplomacy to our campus.

Deputy-Secretary Jonathan Chen (Grade 11) is looking forward to the conference. “MUN offers valuable lessons: improving public speaking skills, expanding one’s knowledge of global affairs, and inspiring individuals to broaden their worldview,” he said.
