About a month ago, eleven students from KAS participated in the annual THIMUN Singapore conference, held from October 27 - October 31 at the International French School Singapore, joining more than 100 other students from across multiple countries to engage in debate on global issues and propose innovative solutions.Â
THIMUN Singapore 2025, part of the THIMUN (The Hague International Model United Nations) network, aimed to foster international understanding, diplomacy, and youth leadership through realistic simulations of the United Nations, thus welcoming a diverse range of schools to this unique opportunity.

Student Delegates Melody Tan, Jerry Tsai, Alegria Hung, Donggeon Kim, Jason Lin, Amelie Yeh, and Benjamin Lo represented the Russian Federation in various committees, engaging by delivering speeches and collaborating with peers from across the globe. Each delved into different topics, ranging from the war in Ukraine to the militarization of outer space, demonstrating their research prowess, diplomacy skills, and teamwork over the week, with many of them even getting the chance to lead the debate with their submitted resolutions.
Meanwhile, Student Chairs Sofia Liu, Ashley Tan, and Sophia Chen led their respective committees as they maintained an engaging and productive environment for debates. As moderators of the sessions, they provided guidance in navigating the procedure and enabled a stimulating environment for all involved, while encouraging many inexperienced delegates under their committees during speeches and lobbying. Thus, they maintained a collaborative yet formal atmosphere in their sessions whilst balancing their role as leaders of their committees.
Last but not least, one of the many highlights of the conference was Geoffrey Wen as the Secretary General of THIMUN Singapore 2025. He ran all the committees under his jurisdiction, oversaw student officers in need, and paved the way for the conference. Although much of his work was arduous, his dedication to making sure organized sessions occurred with running debates was the key factor that enabled the success of the conference.
Throughout the conference were opening ceremonies and leader workshops that gave delegates new friends and insight into international diplomacy. "This week was definitely a highlight of my school year as I got to meet many new people who I've become friends with, and I'm glad for the opportunity to have this unique experience," said Jerry Tsai (G11), a delegate in the Security Council.
By the end of THIMUN Singapore 2025, our students returned home with enhanced collaboration, critical thinking, and public speaking skills thanks to this engaging opportunity that showcased both their dedication and growing confidence as young global leaders.
