A proposal to grant seniors the use of the school's elevator as a special privilege has been officially denied by Ms. Clark. The decision, reached on Tuesday, comes after what she described as a persistent disregard for rules existing currently regarding elevator use.

The petition, initiated by students and signed by all members of 12th grade, had sought to make elevator access a “senior privilege.”
Initially, Ms. Clark had considered polling faculty on the idea. However, due to continued reports of students improperly using the elevator, she has decided to halt any further consideration.
In an email, she wrote, “As a result, I will no longer consider the proposal for elevator usage as a potential senior privilege.”
School counselor Ms. Jean Tsai expressed her disappointment, saying, “It's really unfortunate.” She suggested that students either propose an alternative privilege or demonstrate improved behavior to potentially compel the issue to be revisited in the second semester.
“We weren’t asking for much, just a small privilege to recognize the years we’ve put into this school. It feels like our voices weren’t fully considered, and that’s frustrating,” said senior, Cindia Liu.
Not all seniors have a problem with the rejection. “We should be thankful to have two healthy legs to walk the stairs instead of complaining about the elevator,” said Nicolas Lin.
The denial means that for the foreseeable future, all students—including seniors—will be required to use the stairs.
Ms. Clark mentioned that she is open to discuss and considering some ideas about instating other senior privileges.
