Head of School, Jim Laney has announced he will be leaving the school at the end of the 2025–2026 academic year to take on a new leadership role. Mr. Laney, who will have been KAS Head of School for four years, will become the new Director at Korea International School (KIS) in Seoul.
KIS, like us, is a non-profit school and a member of the AISA Sports league. Unlike us, they have two campuses and has approximately 1,400 students. We have just over 800.

In a recent email to the KAS community, Mr. Laney reflected on his time as Director, highlighting "transformational changes" made in collaboration with students, faculty, staff, and parents.
He credited the KAS Board for their continued support of new initiatives, including improvements to programs, facilities, salaries, and staffing. Laney also praised the community's commitment, noting that KAS's mission is "being lived daily, everywhere we look."
During his remaining tenure, Laney stated he will focus on preparing for the upcoming WASC and IB visits and continuing to improve learning and teaching. He expressed confidence that the community will work together to ensure a smooth transition for new leadership in the 2026–2027 school year.
Mr. Laney concluded his message with, "Once a Dragon, always a Dragon."
