In an email sent to everyone on Friday afternoon, the replacement for Mr. Laney introduced himself. Paul Ducharme is the incoming Head of School and will officially begin at the start of the next year school year.

In his introductory communication, Mr. Ducharme acknowledged the existing strengths of the school. He recognized teachers for their work in teaching, feedback, and planning, and noted the essential function of all staff—from the front office to facilities, technology, administration, security, and student services—in maintaining a "safe, welcoming, and well-functioning environment."
Mr. Ducharme's said his approach is guided by the principle that "passionate teachers, staff, and leaders drive a school forward." His primary objective is to "continue cultivating a thriving professional culture where everyone feels supported, challenged, and empowered."
Mr. Ducharme's said his leadership style is "relational, transparent, and grounded in integrity." He said he plans to maintain visibility in classrooms and around campus to prioritize listening and learning.
He said he will also have a student focused approach, by stressing the importance of fostering supportive relationships, ensuring "students feel known, valued, and supported to take intellectual risks."
Mr. Ducharme mentioned that he has commenced regular meetings with Mr. Laney to ensure a smooth transition. He is scheduled to visit the KAS campus this spring for several days to meet more faculty and staff, observe daily life, and continue the handover process.
