12/08/2025 -TISSA Qualifier Home Game Against ICA
As this year’s varsity boys basketball season progresses, the players continue to grow and learn and are getting even better after every single practice. This year’s team is special. With only four former varsity players left from last season, we are seeing tons of new faces on the roster. And with the recent win in our home court, it is time for the people of KAS to recognize the team.
Let’s start with the freshmen:
#0 Anderson Lin. It is his first year playing on the varsity team. He is a sharp shooter, knocking down every three balls during practice and drills. His developing athleticism has caused him to get constantly injured, which is frustrating. But he is still a consistent player with great fundamentals, and he knows what he is doing; all he needs are some minutes on the court. If he continues to improve and thrive, he is going to be the Klay Thompson of our team.
#17 Eagan Lin. Although this is his first year in varsity basketball, he has already shown his incredible athleticism during the volleyball season. Moving like a literal tank inside the paint, his aggressiveness on defense and offense gave the senior captain Casper Lee four bloody scratches already, almost ending his career. He has that physicality and defense, making him our DeAndre Jordan.
#7 Ryan Chen. One of our best freshmen. He’s shown his ability to make effective buckets, using his speed, length, and consistent mid-range pull-up. Even though sometimes he folds like a Samsung Galaxy Flip Z, and even looks like he’s not stepped in five feet near the gym, his contribution to this team is significant and carries great expectations. Ryan Chen? No. Baby KD.
Moving on to the sophomores:
#21 Aiden Chan. He is the definition of heart over height. In his first 4 games, he has shown his ability to make an impact on and off the court, being reliable with handling the ball while giving high energy when he is on the bench. Even though the coach always gets him and the other Aiden confused. Being the clumsiest person on the team, he would bring the wrong jersey and had to wear somebody else’s. However, he is still throwing dimes and hustling on every play. Aiden is the player who would give you the best attitude and energy on and off the court.
#2 Aiden Chen (myself).
#1 Dominic Chen. He is the type of person you would just stare at in disbelief. He would whisper next to your ear in the middle of a play and make you listen to his Egg. Inc game theories. In one practice, he could literally fall asleep on the bleachers and come back next practice, making every shot in the mid-range. Dominic is just Dominic, whatever works for him works 🤷♂️.
Juniors:
#11 Kyle Lee. Somebody get him a passport and a boarding pass because he is on a vacation. I bet he would be so happy to TRAVEL to Osaka in January. Scoring 21 pts against ICA, Kyle Lee is one of the best players on the team. Every time he does a euro step, he either gets blocked or scores an and-one bucket that seemed impossible; there is no in between. One time during practice, he even tried to elbow our assistant coach because he really wanted to score on him. With three years of varsity experience, he is expected to be the team’s next captain!
#6 Skylor Lee. After missing 30 practices, he’s got 100 suicides to run, according to the coach. He might just spend more time recovering and running suicides than actually playing on the court. But when he’s healthy, he is dominating the paint with crazy finishes and rebounds. The coach is losing patience with how long Skylor has been injured, but the team still hopes to see him play soon!
#10 Yuju Cheon. He may look smart. He may sound smart. He may be getting 6s and 7s on his summatives. But this guy is the jolliest and most unserious person you would ever meet. There’s just something about the way he talks, making everybody, including the coach giggle. Despite being the goofiest member of this team, he gives consistent buckets every game with his unstoppable middy pulls and jelly lays as the starting point guard.
Last but not least, the seniors:
#4 Arthur Ting. He is the most nonchalant and performative senior, always has his AirPods or wired headphones in. And he even plays like he has AirPods in his ears too; his lazy jumpers and floaters always somehow go in. He is a LaMelo Ball-type player. Same as all the other seniors, this will be his last year playing, so make sure to pull up to watch him play in home games before it is too late!
#8 Casper Lee. Is that a bird? Airplane? Superman? No that’s Casper Lee grabbing rebounds! This guy is the definition of hustle, which is also why he cannot go over one practice without his back or waist hurting. Although he kind of smells and sweats too much, he is one of the best players on this team right now, averaging 10+ rebounds per game. He calls himself Lonzo Ball, but I am pretty sure he is closer to Draymond Green or Dennis Rodman. He is also one of the captains this year.
#12 Derek Chang. Derek is very smart. On the bench, he sees it all. The team would always go to him after a game for feedback, and he would tell them their mistakes and how to work on improving. But despite that, he barely talks. I wonder what is on his mind… (we all know that it is TFT).
#5 Spencer Lee. If you’ve ever watched any of the livestreams, you would find it difficult to hear the sounds on the court. It is because of Spencer. He took this captain job very, very seriously. Never sit next to him on the bench because your ears would pop. He is also giving that same energy on the court: running up and down the court, he is a defense and transition monster with crazy stamina. He also ordered Macu drinks for everyone on the team after the win against ICA. #teammom.
That’s it. This is the team. Go dragons!
