KAS Middle School Principal Chelsea Armstrong announced yesterday on Instagram that her next position will be in Mexico City.

Ms. Armstrong will take on the role of Middle School Principal at the American School Foundation (ASF). Established in 1888 and recognized as the oldest American school in the world.

“I'm excited to be in Latin America. I'm hoping to improve my Spanish and eat lots of tacos,” she said.

Earlier this year, Ms. Armstrong announced her departure from KAS at the close of the 2025-2026 school year, concluding four years here.

“The time is right with my daughter graduating this year and my son going into 8th grade,” she said.

Ms. Armstrong had been actively seeking employment in Europe and Latin America. Following a visit and interview in Mexico two weeks ago, she was offered the job last weekend and accepted almost immediately.

Eighth-grader Marc Su commented on Armstrong's time at KAS: “Ms. Chelsea is a hard-working principal who always does her best to improve the quality of the school, and I feel like internal relationships within the middle school community have heavily improved during her time. She is a trustworthy person who you can share everything with, and she motivates you when you are down. Have a good time in Mexico! We will miss you very much.”

Vera Lin, also from 8th grade, said: "Ms Chelsea, is really supportive, she supports students based on their needs. She is always smiling and she knows each student really well and I will really miss her next year."

Ms. Armstrong’s husband, [HS teacher and publisher of this newspaper] Matt Bailey will also relocate and is expected to teach High School U.S. History. "Dialectical materialism and imperialism as the final form of capitalism for the dub," he said. "Viva Mexico!"
