Editors note: Our new feature Alumni Check-in, does just that... We ask former KAS students to respond to some questions about how it's going. Once a dragon...

Q. Where do you live now? Why? What are you doing?

A. I live in the U.S New york, in the middle of Manhattan, studying arts at The New School Parsons.

Q. What are the biggest differences between there and Kaohsiung? What’s the biggest similarities?

A. it's both a city, but New York is wild. I made direct eye contact with some dude taking a p*** in the middle of the street a couple times near my dorm. That’s something I don't see in Kaohsiung.

Q. What does a typical day look like for you?

A. I sometimes work til very late, and wake up for my 9 am classes 10 minutes before class starts, and walk to classes that are near the dorm building. Our classes our sometimes very long, it goes from 9 to 2 at the latest. After that I go home nap, wake up, work and repeat.

Q. What's one thing you miss most about being a high school student?

A. My classmates, and the amount of clubs I had. It was so much easier to fit clubs into my schedule in high school. But it might just be something I have to adjust to myself.

Q. What's the biggest lesson you’ve learned in the "real world" that you wish you knew while you were in high school?

A. No one cares, just go do whatever man.

Q. What advice would you give to your high school self?

A. Do what you want, not what made most sense to you.

Q. Did your KAS experience prepare you for life after graduation?

A. Yea, the IB curriculum is very rigorous. I didn’t take the full DP in my senior year, but even the course works prepared me well.

Q. What are you looking forward to most in the next five years?

A. Meeting more people, exploring career paths, making more works for a portfolio.
